Data classifications
To guarantee complete, accurate and up-to-date product information can easily be exchanged between different parties in the supply chain, a number of industries use data standards or classifications. Professional PIM suppliers, such as Proplanet, possess the knowledge, experience and technology to help you structure and classify your data according to ETIM, ETIM-MC, GS1, GLDF or UNSPSC data standards.
ETIM
ETIM is an international data standard used in over 20 countries to classify, categorize and describe technical products. The ETIM data standard is mainly used in the electrotechnical, HVAC and installation industries.
ETIM-MC
The ETIM-MC (Modelling Class) extension adds consistent 3D information to the standard ETIM-model. ETIM-MC data allows you to create 3D-models of any product in BIM- or CAD-software.
GS1
GS1 offers a number of different codes, such as GTIN, EAN, UPC and 2D barcodes. The Global Product Classification (GPC) system is also part of GS1. GPC holds the characteristics and values of products and can be used to generate product descriptions.
GLDF
The GLDF (Global Lighting Data Format) format is the new standard for fixtures and sensors. GLDF data is used to exchange product data with light calculation software that simulates lighting.
UNSPSC
UNSPSC is a worldwide classification structure mainly used in the USA. UNSPSC uses four or five classification levels to create an eight- or ten-digit code that identifies a unique product or service.
